ISLAMABAD - PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is still indecisive on attending the ceremony of the martyrdom day of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Ghari Khuda Bakhsh as Asif Ali Zardari, despite spending around a week in London, could not reportedly woo his annoyed son on different matters.
PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, after spending around a week with Bilawal in London, is lonely returning to Pakistan to preside over the ceremony of the martyrdom day of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto at Ghari Khuda Bakhsh on December 27.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who has been in UK for some months, has already missed PPP’s foundation-day ceremony on November 30, reportedly due to internal differences with his father, Asif Ali Zardari, over the party matters.
Sources in PPP shared that the party’s main leaders were making all-out efforts to bring Bilawal back to Pakistan to address his differences and convince him on the other party-related matters.
Bilawal is not only annoyed over the reorganisation of the party according to his will and wishes, but also has a plethora of reservations on different notifications being issued to the party workers by Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentary Women Wing President Faryal Talpur, they added. When contacted, Press Secretary to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Bashir Riaz did not share any detail about the PPP chairman’s return to the country to attend the ceremony. “Wait for the day, it will be cleared,” he said.
It is also relevant to mention here that the PPP, in an attempt to dispel the impression of differences within the party, has issued a joint picture of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari in London.
Background interactions and discussions with the PPP leaders left this impression that PPP is currently facing issues of grouping in the party due to different internal matters. “Some of the groups are in favour of reorganisation of the party on the wishes of Bilawal to sideline old members and give opportunities to the young blood, while others are against this idea,” the sources said.
They said the PPP chairman had also shelved his scheduled plan for reorganisation of the party in Punjab after watching the party matters against his wishes. Bilawal has already cancelled his visit to Punjab thrice mainly for security and other reasons.
It would not be out of place to mention here that PPP Chairman Bilawal Zardari, in an image-improving campaign, addressed public gatherings at Birmingham and London, but faced anti-PPP slogans and had to cut short his speech.
