ISLAMABAD - Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) Chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman has said that he was at loss to understand why Speaker National Assembly was not accepting the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Parliamentarians resignations, which according to him’, must have been accepted much earlier.
Talking to media persons after his meeting with special assistant to Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui, who called on him to show solidarity to him on Sunday, Moulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his grave concern over the rising incidents of violence and intolerance in the country.
He said that he and his other party leaders were repeatedly targeted but they exercised restraint and never opted the course of violence and talked about peace and tolerance in the larger interest of the country and the nation.
To a question, he said that the security agencies of the country had failed to bring about any positive change, and the unabated acts of violence and terrorism were reflective of their failure to contain this menace.
Referring to the repeated attempts on his life in the past, Moulana Fazlur Rehman said that law enforcement agencies had failed to probe any of these attacks on him.
To a question, he said that he had repeatedly warned about the cultural invasion of the West and Zionists which was mainly aimed at distancing the Muslim majority from their religious and cultural values and pushing them into anarchy and chaos.
When asked about the undue delay being shown by the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in accepting the resignations of the PTI MPs, Moulana Fazlur Rehman smilingly said that he was at loss to understand all this, quickly adding that the resignations should have been accepted much earlier as per the rules of procedure and constitution.
He said that JUI-F has adopted the way of constitution and democracy instead of sectarianism and always played a vital role in promoting the cohesion and unity among the nation.
He regretted that a number of moderate leaders had fallen victim to this spree of violence but they could not deter the nation from its march on the road of progress and prosperity by evolving a tolerant and enlightened society.
He said that the government would not leave any stone unturned to bring the culprits who had targeted Moulana to book.

Staff Reporter from Peshawar adds: Provincial Secretary Information Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Ayesha Gulalai, has said the chief of JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman should apologize for the words he used earlier for women, participating in the PTI-led sit-in Islamabad.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Gulalai said the words being used by Maulana Fazlur Rehman about women show his mentality.
She claimed that the JUI-F chief’s politics is based on his personal interests and he is endeavouring to save portfolios of his party men.
She clarified that PTI Chairman Imran Khan has never requested the US diplomat in Pakistan for making him premier of the country like Fazl did in past.
Women of the country are playing a vital role for raising their voice against injustice and other forces at the PTI sit-in in Islamabad and women’s role for Islam and Pakistan Movement could not be denied.
