At least six people including a cop and an ANP activist were gunned down in separate incidents of violence here Sunday.
A cop came under attack of armed assailants at Sultanabad within the remits of Manghopir Police Station. SHO Aslam Joya said 32-year-old constable Fida Hussain sustained injuries in the attacks and died on the way to hospital.
In another incident, 35-year-old man identified as Umar Hussain was gunned down by attackers in the remits of Manghopir Police Station. The victim was a drug peddler and could have been killed by his rival group, police said.
A man namely Fayyaz Munir was shot dead and his friend Nasim Islam sustained injuries in Essa Nagri within the remits of PIB Police Station. DSP Nasir Lodhi said activists of a religious party came under armed attack by unidentified persons. Both the victims sustained injuries; later Fayyaz succumbed to injuries during treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Scores of activists of the party gathered on the spot and restored fire in which four people including Nasir Aziz, Kamran Umar, Aslam and Aftab sustained injuries. After being informed, police shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Nasir and Kamran succumbed to injuries.
In remits of Model Colony Police, the said rally participant resorted indiscriminate fire on a hotel in at Model Colony Turn, injuring six people who were shifted to JPMC for treatment.
In another incident, a local leader of the ANP was shot dead in Musharraf Colony. Police said that the victim was going somewhere on his motorbike when unidentified assailants shot him dead, and managed flee from the scene.
In the remits of Boat Basin Police, security guard of a pumping station was killed by unidentified persons. No case was registered till filling the report.
