PESHAWAR - The Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) convened “Tribal Jirga” Thursday demanded the federal government to reinitiate dialogue process with Taliban, create suitable environment for its success and urged to take effective steps to end the US drone attacks inside Pakistan.
Talking to media persons after the tribal jirga, chief of his own faction Maulana Fazlur Rahman regretted that unfortunately no effective strategy of the government was witnessed for peace. He said that in the former JUI-F convened jirga in Islamabad the tribal elders had given a unanimous declaration for peace and also assured its full support in this regard.
Condemning the US drones air strikes inside Pakistani territories, Maulana said that the government should effectively take the issue of drones at the concerned forum and ensure a halt to it. “Only purposeful dialogue would be the only way for sustainable peace in the region,” he maintained.
In the jirga about 75 tribal elders participated. The elders also expressed concern over the pathetic approach of the incumbent government towards law and order situations in FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and urged the rulers to reinitiate talks with Taliban in the light of strategy proposed by the tribal jirga. “It was also responsibility of the government to create conducive environment for negotiations,” they said.
Earlier, Maulana Fazl said that the tribal jirga had strongly condemned the US drone attacks and termed it a cause to sabotage peace process in FATA. “The government should take the issue serious and ensure rehabilitation of the displaced families from tribal agencies,” he remarked.
To a query about reposing confidence of Taliban in the JUI convened jirga, he said that neither any political party nor Taliban had expressed no-confidence in it.
He also welcomed the appointment of new Army Chief Geneneral Raheel Sharif and hoped he would device a new strategy for sustainable peace by removing the former drawbacks and paw way for meaningful talks. Replying to another question about the meeting of religious parties, he said that in the meeting they discussed not only the recent Rawalpindi mayhem but also the existing situation and prejudice developed due to the carnage across the country.
He said that a durable solution would be sorted out to stop the negative effects of this massacre by devising a strategy for national unity.
JI THREATENS MILLION MARCH
Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Thursday threatened the federal government with a ‘million march’ towards Islamabad if it failed to do concrete measures to stop drone strikes inside Pakistan. “If practical steps are not taken to block Nato supplies and drone strikes, a million of people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will march towards Islamabad,” said KPK Senior Minister and JI Vice Ameer Siraj Ul-Haq while addressing a convention of IJT Islamabad.
He also demanded of the federal government to join hands with them (PTI & JI) to block Nato supplies. He said a large number of people will soon stage a sit-in before the UN office, US embassy and Parliament House.
He was of the view that Pakistan was facing numerous problems due to the coward leadership to face challenges. He said that Nato supplies would not be accepted at any cost as weapons were used against Muslims.
He said that they would not allow PM Nawaz Sharif to compromise the national interest at any cost.
