Islamabad - Secretariat police have registered a case against dozens of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) workers for blocking road, setting effigy of the prime minister on fire and using mega phone during a protest rally in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan here on last Tuesday (October 28).
The FIR registered with the Secretariat police station under Section 341/188 of the CrPc, 2/3 Amplifier Act said that on the directions of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, some 60-70 PTI workers, including President PTI Youth Wing Islamabad chapter Aamir Mughal, held a protest rally in front of the ECP and blocked the road. They also set effigy of the prime minister on fire and used mega phone. AC Secretariat had ordered registration of a case against these workers. Police are yet to arrest the accused. PTI workers had staged a protest rally in front of the ECP office on last Tuesday against alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections. The Secretariat police also booked some 300-400 workers of the OGDCL for holding protest rally and offering resistance to the on-duty police officers during a protest demonstration against privatisation of the corporation on October 29. Malik Ikhlaq, a CBA member and 28 others, have been nominated in the FIR while the police were yet to ascertain the identity of the rest of the protesters.
Meanwhile, coming hard on the alms-seekers, Islamabad police have arrested a total of 582 beggars during the last fortnight with an objective to curb the menace. Islamabad police launched special campaign to curb this curse on the directions of IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan and SSP Islamabad Asmat Ullah Junejo. During the last 15 days, 192 male beggars, 88 female beggars and 302 child beggars were arrested. Islamabad police shifted the children and deserving persons involved in begging to the Edhi Centres and Protection Centres for their proper upbringing while the professional alms-seekers were shifted to jail.
“Separately, Islamabad police arrested 10 outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered 3.40kg hashish and stolen valuables from them,” a police spokesman said on Thursday.
According to details, the CIA police arrested seven thieves and recovered stolen valuables, including laptop and mobile phones from them. They have been identified as Abdul Ghaffar, Ansar Gul, Sher, Zaib, Asif, Shaukat and Yasin. They are being investigated further and police are hopeful for more recovery.
Margallah police arrested a drug peddler Kashif Khurram and recovered 1.20kg hashish from him. Two drug sellers namely Mustafa Khan and Humayun Khan were apprehended by Shehzad Town police in possession of 1.10kg hashish from each of them.
