Like other parts of the country, the magic of the charismatic personality of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chief Imran Khan has also migrated to Karachi, where the citizens especially youngsters and women found excited to cast their votes to PTI despite the fact that only 10 candidates of PTI are fielded in the metropolis in the general elections.
According to reports, in various polling stations people were of the view that they will give chance to PTI in this election as old parties did nothing for the protection of the citizens, who have become tired by targeted killings, bomb blast, kidnapping for ransom, land grabbing, extortion, robbery, car snatching and other crimes.
PTI having not a strong party structure in Karachi has achieved a place to bring the youngsters and women to polling stations with a craze to cast their vote to ‘Bat’ for victory of Imran Khan’s vision of ‘Naya Pakistan’. PTI could not run their political campaign inKarachidue to worst law and order situation and limited its activities by organising small corner meetings in the City. Despite major activities have only been witnessed in NA-250 where PTI candidate Arif Alvi was found busy electioneering in his constituency.
During the polls in various polling stations, while talking to The Nation, voters said that they want change in country as they given their vote to PTI while traditional political parties had failed to deliver and former legislators were busy gaining personal benefits, voters added.
A lady voter Fozia Adil, resident of the constituency NA-243 and PS-97, said that the former legislator parties, those did not play their role in making educational reforms even they failed to establish new institutions for nation. She hoped that PTI would introduce uniform education system in urban and rural areas across the country.
Another voter of similar constituency Aman Ansari said, “My vote for the Bat is not for PTI’s candidate but for new vision of Imran Khan.” It has been observed that mostly voters of PTI did not cast their votes as either they got NIC card recently or have not been associated with any political party.
