PESHAWAR - The Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) have entered into a seat-to-seat adjustment in the four districts of the KPK while the rest were left open. Addressing a joint news conference with QWP KPK President Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, JUI-F KPK Senior Vice Ameer Maulana Ataur Rahman said that after holding several rounds of negotiations both parties reached a consensus to have seats adjustment in four districts of KPK. He informed that at provincial level it would be quite a new patron of alliance between the JUI-F and QWP that would bring long-term benefits. Maulana was also quite optimist that the alliance would be sustainable and would remain in the future as well. He informed that both parties would adjust seats at 51 provincial assembly constituencies and 13 National Assembly constituencies of the four districts. He said that both parties would contest election jointly in Charsadda, Swabi, Swat and Buner of KPK. He also informed that in Charsadda, the National Assembly seat NA-8 and provincial assembly seats were left open while on NA-7 Chasadda-I and PK-17, joint candidates of both parties would contest elections. Similarly, he said at two provincial assembly seats, PK-18 and 19 the QWP candidates would contest and in Swabi, the JUI-F candidates would contest from both National Assembly seats NA-12 and NA-13 while on the six provincial assembly seats the QWP candidates would confront their rivals. He said that at PK-31, 33 and 34, the JUI-F candidates would contest polls while PK-32, 35 and 36 the QWP candidates would fight their rivals. In district Buner, Maulana Ataur Rahman said that from NA-18 and provincial assembly seat PK-79, the JUI-F candidates would contest elections while from PK-77, PK-78, QWP candidates would take part. Likewise, he said in district Swat, the JUI-F and QWP agreed on seat-to-seat adjustment at seven provincial assembly seats in which PK-83, PK-85 the QWP and PK-82 and PK-86, the JUI-F would contest election while the rest of three provincial assembly seats and two National Assembly seats were left open. Though, he said that the final decision about the seat adjustment in Shangla would decide by both parties central leadership but adjustment at rest of the provincial as well as National Assembly seats in other districts of KPK were left open.On the occasion, the QWP Provincial Chief Sikandar Sherpao endorsed the decision regarding the seat adjustment and hoped that the alliance would bring better results at province level. He said that for election campaign no proper time was given and all the political parties had finalised their lists of candidates in hurry due to which withdrawal of some of the candidates were quite hard. In reply to a query, he said that a sustainable democratic set-up was need of the times that could establish peace in the terrorism-hit province and could restore the destroyed economy.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
