PML-N to enhance women’s role in legislation: Nawaz

LAHORE  - PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said his party will ensure substantial participation of women in legislation as well as other affairs of the state.
After voted to power, the PML-N government would frame policies to ensure participation and a positive role of the women in lawmaking as well as in running affairs of various government departments, Nawaz Sharif said while speaking to activists of the women wing and the former legislators of the party here Friday.
Nawaz said his party was determined to check through legislation, torture on women and discriminatory treatment to them in inheritance as well as in society. He said the PML-N government would implement a comprehensive programme for the empowerment of women so that they could also keep pace with other segments of the society. After coming to power, the PML-N government would provide them soft loans and give them every incentive necessary to facilitate them in business, education and other professions.
Nawaz said his government would also give loans to the women for building houses, besides enhancing their participation in the judiciary, health, education, financial and other sectors of national development.
The PML-N president also promised enforcement throughout the country the legislation carried by Nawaz government in Punjab to ensure protection to the women’s rights in inherited property. He said care centres and women entrepreneurship financing for businesswomen would also be established to facilitate this important segment of the scieity.
