MQM announces candidates for general elections


KARACHI

Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain announced the party candidates for general elections 2013 during a telephonic address from London at Lal Qila Ground Azizabad here on Saturday.
Addressing the MQM workers, he said that MQM was the only political party that represents all the communities of the Pakistan.
He questioned that why the caretaker government is not taking notices of the routine target killing of the MQM workers and supporters. MQM will contest the upcoming general election at any cost despite all the conspiracies.
He said that terrorists were trying to abstain liberal and secular parties away from the upcoming elections through terrorist attacks. He said that rival forces should try to defeat MQM through democratic processes and stop the conspiracies.
He appealed to the Taliban to stop the terrorist attack and surrender the weapons for the sake of country facing internal and external threats.
Announcing the details, Altaf said that MQM had placed 674 candidates across the country.
He said that 21 candidates of his party would contest for National Assembly seats while 45 for Provincial assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Punjab, 132 candidates would take part in the electoral process for National Assembly seats and 256 for provincial assembly. In Balochistan, 7 candidates would contest for National Assembly seats and 27 for provincial assembly. In interior Sindh, the MQM would place 41 candidates for seats of National Assembly and 86 for provincial assembly. Twenty candidates would contest for National Assembly seats and 42 for provincial assembly in Karachi adding 22 women were also named as candidates for general seats.
The name of the candidates contesting the polls for the 20 of  Karachi National Assembly seats includes Salman Mujahid Baloch for NA-239, Khuwaja Sohail Mansoor for NA-240, S.A. Iqbal Qadri for NA-241, Mehboob Alam for NA-242, Abdul Waseem for NA-243, Sheikh Salahuddin NA-244, Rehan Hashmi for NA-245, Nabeel Gabol NA-246, Sufiyan Yousuf NA-247, Nabeel Gabol NA-248, Dr. Farooq Sattar NA-249, Khush Bakht Shujahat for NA-250, Ali Raza Abidi for NA-251, Rasheed Godial for NA-252, Muzammil  Quershi NA-253, Sheikh Muhammad Afzal NA-254, Asif Hasnain NA-255, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan NA-256, Sajid Ahmed NA-257, Ahmed Gabol NA-258.
