Jennifer Lawrence says filming new movie Joy with David O Russell is ‘going great’, despite reports the pair became engaged in a heated argument with each other on set. TMZ previously reported the pair got into a heated exchange complete with ‘ear-piercing screams’ and profanity while shooting drama Joy on set in Boston. But Jennifer took to Facebook Friday, claiming she and David are on great terms right now.
‘Hey guys! It’s Jen! I know I don’t go on here a lot because I can barely work email but there’s been a terrible rumor going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up (sic),’ she wrote in the post. ‘David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I’m having a blast making it!’
A representative for Fox 2000, the movie studio behind Joy, told TMZ earlier this week screaming did occur, but dismissed the whole incident as an exercise in method acting. Jennifer and David have collaborated very successfully in the past, as she picked up an Academy Award and a Golden Globe trophy for starring in his 2012 romantic comedy, The Silver Linings Playbook. One year later, Jennifer received her third Academy Award nod for her work in David’s 2013 release, American Hustle.
The 24-year-old previously gushed about how magical it was to work with David on The Silver Linings Playbook. ‘I always say that he’s kind of the Meryl Streep of directors, everything he does is just completely different - you can’t even compare any of his movies. They’re unrecognisable, he doesn’t even have a specific style almost because he can do everything,’ Jennifer told film website Flicks and Bits. ‘I love his characters, they’re quirky, weird, and intense and as a director he can help bring out something you don’t even know you can do – you can’t ask more than that. I’d always wanted to work with him, he’s one of my favourite directors.’
