Georgian strongman pulls eight-tonne truck with ear

A FORMER wrestler and strongman in Georgia hopes to enter the record books after he hauled an eight-tonne truck for 21.5metres using his ear.
Lasha Pataraya, 32, is understood to be waiting to hear from the Guinness Book of Records after his feat was filmed for Georgian TV and pictures sent around the world.
In the video, Pataraya is seen warming up by slapping and pulling the skin around his left ear, hooking a cable over his right shoulder. He then hauls the eight-tonne truck using a wooden ladder as a raucous crowd in the tiny town of Rustavi, Georgia cheer from the sidelines.
After finishing his feat, Mr Pataraya grimaces but minutes later gives an interview to the camera explaining himself.
‘I’ve taken this challenge to beat my previous record of 7,850 kilos,’ he says. ‘Today I moved eight and a half tonnes.’
Five years ago, a noticeably youthful Mr Pataraya entered the record books after pulling a helicopter 26 metres using the same technique.
Mr Pataraya doesn't elaborate on what gave rise to his very specific gift, but a cursory search of YouTube reveals that his ear exploits are by no means a new fad.            –GN
