I am funniest in my family: Jones

Brookings  - January Jones hopes that her siblings would say she is the funniest in her family. The 37-year-old is best known for her role as Betty Draper in hit TV series Mad Men. But while she is used to playing within the stern confines of her character on-screen, her off-duty personality is very different.
‘I’m hilarious at home,’ she laughed to the British edition of Marie Claire. ‘It’s not like I stopped being funny ten years ago. If you get my sisters and me together as a unit, well, we’ll each say we’re the funniest one. But I’m the eldest, so they had better say I’m the funniest.’ January has two sisters, Jacey and Jina, and has a great relationship with her parents Marvin and Karen. The family lived in Hecla, South Dakota but when she was 18, she decided to go and make her fortune in New York City, much to her parents’ dismay.
Her dad tried to dissuade her from leaving by telling her that they couldn’t afford to pay for her flight to the Big Apple, thinking that she wouldn’t take the bus. But she did.
‘I was 18 and so fearless,’ she recalled. ‘I can’t believe I did it. I was wide awake for 30 hours. I sat near the front of the bus because my dad said, ‘Don’t go near the back, because that’s where the bad stuff happens.’ It was terrifying. I had a lot of conversations with people suffering from substance abuse, or crazy, a lot of soldiers on their way somewhere.’
