Will Smith has returned to music after a ten year hiatus. The Oscar nominee, who turned 47 last week, has released a remix of the Colombian dance group Bomba Estéreo's song, Fiesta. The rapper turned movie star reportedly first heard the catchy 'electro tropical' tune while on a recent trip to Colombia, and approached the band to see if they wanted to do a collaboration.
Rumors of a potential link-up first sparked when he posted a picture with them on his Facebook page last month, shortly after they landed a number of Latin Grammy nominations.
Smith - who has sold 20million albums to date - hasn't released a record since 2005's Lost And Found album. In the new song, Will even spits the first verse in English and the second in Spanish.
Lines include 'Hola Mamacita / Go get me a beer-a' and 'No gassing me I'm a Tesla', while he also reveals that he's 'Tryna find me a Sofia Vergara'. He describes her as an Angel Colombiana / laced in designer / The kind that gets impatient' before boasting that he's 'Gotta be blatant / walk up behind her'.
And despite Eminem previously insisting that 'Will Smith don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records' - 'the Fresh One' even drops a sneaky into his verse. 'When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn't believe it,' said Bomba Estéreo's founder and multi-instrumentalist Simón Mejia. 'This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of. It's not a traditional featuring – it's just magic.  While the original track already has a video, a second video for the remix was recently shot in Los Angeles - which features Smith rapping en Español - and is set to be released soon.
