Parents will be able to control their childrens driving under a new hi-tech system to be introduced by the UKs biggest-selling car company, Ford. The MyKey system allows car owners to programme a special key that can limit a vehicles top speed and ensures seatbelts are being worn. MyKey will also prevent young drivers from disabling any safety features in the car. The system will deliver an earlier-than-normal low-fuel warning and limits the volume on the car audio system. Already a success in the US, the system will be introduced in Europe by Ford next year. Fords system architect for MyKey, Peter Patzelt, said: MyKey adds a new dimension to auto safety by giving drivers standard technology that encourages safer driving and limits their exposure to risk, regardless of age or experience.
