Adele, 1D set new Guinness World Records

ADELE and One Direction have entered Guinness World Records.Adele has broken seven world records - the first female, first UK artist and fastest to reach a million US digital sales, biggest-selling digital track in both the US and UK with ‘Rolling in the Deep’, and biggest-selling digital album with 21 in the UK and US. One Direction, meanwhile, became the first British act to have a debut album go straight to number one in the US, with Up All Night.The Stone Roses’ Heaton Park comeback shows have also been named the fastest-selling rock concerts in UK history.All 220,000 tickets for the three concerts earlier this summer were sold in just 68 minutes.Other musicians to enter the 2013 edition include Madonna, who scored the biggest TV audience (114 million viewers) for her Super Bowl half-time show in February, and Lady GaGa, whose Born This Way record was named the fastest-selling US digital album after shifting 1.1m copies in its first week. Adele had the biggest-selling album of 2012 so far with 21 until Emeli Sandé recently overtook her with Our Version of Events.Rihanna and Justin Bieber are also among the acts to have claimed places in the new Guinness World Records book.Rihanna smashed Black Eyed Peas’ record for best-selling digital act in the US after seeing her total downloads reach 47.57m tracks.Bieber’s place in the book comes courtesy of him becoming the first ever solo artist to have three number one albums in both the US and UK before the age of 18.There is also a mention for Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who became the youngest chart artist when the sound of her crying at two days old featured on Glory.      –Agencies
