The three-day 10th Fashion Pakistan Week concluded on a positive note with the grand finale being presented by fashion icon Shamaeel Ansari at Hotel Pearl Continental. The fashion fiesta ended with a high note to mark the next year with more designers than 2016 and more international buyers to bolster the textile economy of the Pakistan.
Model turned actor Azfar Rehman, who first ever time became show-stopper for any designer, walked the ramp for Amir Adnan. He told The Nation that it was an honour to walk the runway for top designer Amir Adnan. “FPW provided a splendid environment for showcasing the latest clothing trends and designs.
The FPW day 3 lineup included Sonya Battla who showcased ethnic embroidery designs in collaboration with Karachi University Textile Department students, ready-to-wear women’s clothing brand Generation presented Khadija Rehman’s first collection ‘A dot that went for a walk’, Alkaram Textiles, season latest lawn collection, Natasha Kamal’s collection shapely fit and flared trousers featured perfect for the summer wearing designs, Nida Azwer showcased luxury prêt collection tilted Kirigami, Zainab Chottani collection who is newer to the fashion industry but come up with innovative New York style line while Aamna Aqeel presented designs of fusion of eastern western styles. The grand finale ended with showcasing of Shameel Ansari’s collection inspired from the ancient Japanese philosophy.
There are no major differences in the Lahore and Karachi fashion weeks, as both cities have become hub of fashion designers for past few years their unique identical fashion trends. Pakistan fashion industry is booming in a right direction.
“Appreciation from the fashion loving people when model walks on the ramp is entirely a different feeling for a showstopper. Amir Adnan started from scratch and became top designer with dedication, hard work and polishing his hidden talen that many of us have but do not realize,” Azfar said.
The business of fashion promotes our textile industry. Some of the well acclaimed names of the entertainment industry were the Nida Hussain, Ayesha Omer, Mahira Khan, Attiya khan, Zhalay Sarhadi, Syra Sharore, Mantaha Tareen Maqsood and other walked on the ramp on the concluding day of the fashion week.
Bank Alfalah Rising Star
Out of the four debut designers who contended for the Bank Alfalah Rising Talent Award on the first day of the Fashion Pakistan Week 2016, Uzair Sardar was declared as the winner of the competition. Uzair Sardar from Asian Institute of Fashion Design received the Rising Talent Award and a cheque of Rs 500,000 from Aly Mustansir, Chief Marketing Officer at Bank Alfalah. Through the award, the Bank provides a prestigious platform for young designers to showcase their talent and transform their ambitions into success.

Sonya Batla

A collaboration collection with the Textile Department Karachi University exploring feelings that create our Identity through texture Sonya Battla has become a mark of high-end fashion. Using highest quality of fabrics, each collection claims a uniqueness of style, created by colour, innovation of patterns and drape with a hint of ethnic embroideries and other renditions making them interesting in their own space.
She is inspired by nature and hand crafts, yet keeps the silhouette modern and cutting edge.

Generation

Generation presents Khadija Rahman’s first collection ‘A dot that went for a walk’, as apparent from the title the collection is inspired from artist extraordinaire Paul Kiee’s quote ‘the line is a dot that went for a walk’. It is a celebration of movement and form that is the base characteristic of fabric itself. It explores the way fabric dances along the human form, how it clings, how it drapes and how it falls.

Alkaram

ALKARAM studio presents the seasons latest digital lawn collection, this collection is a synthesis of color combined with abstract florals. We have taken inspiration of the global inspiration from the ethnic world, with hints of bohemia and kitsch motivations. This collection is eclectic yet it remains deeply rooted to our cultural heritage and traditional values.

Natasha Kamal

For the SS16 runway collection we looked to the tropics for inspiration. The collection is a celebration of summer so we drew reference from bold blooms, leafy botanicals & exotic animal prints. The styling has a hint of Riviera with touches of sixties glamour; from flared trousers, chic head wraps to sunglasses. Hence the collections name, Luxxotica.

Nida Azwer

The Nida Azwer Atelier will be showcasing their luxury pret collection at FPW 2016 titled ‘Kirigami’ - a variation of origami that includes cutting of the paper rather than solely folding the paper. This art form has been translated onto the fabric in this collection through layering, cutwork and experimental embroidery.

Zainab Chottani

Zainab Chottani is never shy to take a risk. Her new collection is all about uptown chic. Stepping away from her forte, this collection is all about effortlessly looking trendy. She is making the classic street style denim look chic with organza, silk, and shiffon capes and stylish cuts done to perfection.

Aamna Aqeel

My collection for the FPW2O16 Spring/Summer will be showcasing black & white with bright colors making summers vibrant, presenting you Stare. It’s a look that’s worth staring at, with Aamna Aqeel’s signature jackets, summery haram pants, jump suits, dresses and relaxing dhoti pants.
