Jay-Z ‘totally nailed’ Great Gatsby

NEW YORK: Baz Luhrmann has praised Jay-Z for taking on the role as executive producer of the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby.
Emeli Sandé, Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey, Jack White and Florence Welch are among the artists who have contributed vocals for the film.”Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz were two of the first people to see a rough cut of the film,” Luhrmann told MTV News.
“Jay watched it, and he was fantastic. He and Swizz were talking. I’m like, ‘What are they talking about?’ And at the end, Jay-Z said, ‘This story is not about how Jay Gatsby made his money; it’s is he a good person or not?’”
He continued: “He totally nailed that the book was aspirational. That the book was really about, if you’ve got a cause, you can move towards a green light. That you don’t reach it isn’t the point; that you aspire is.” Star of the film Isla Fisher recently praised the film’s leading man Leonardo DiCaprio.
She said: “Leo is the most perfect Jay Gatsby. He brings to it a childlike innocence. His obsession with Daisy doesn’t feel mentally ill. It’s just sort of passionate and misguided, but still romantic.”–DS
