The poster for Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming movie, Joy, has been unveiled.
The 24-year-old actress is the only person on the poster, in which she looks up at falling snowflakes while wearing sunglasses. Written and directed by David O. Russell, 56, Jennifer plays the title role in the film about Joy Mangano, a real-life inventor and entrepreneur.
Although they do not appear on the poster, the names of two of Jennifer’s co-stars - 72-year-old Robert De Niro and 40-year-old Bradley Cooper - receive billing along with the leading lady in the new artwork. Joy takes place over several decades but focuses on the title character’s transformation from desperate single mother to the head of a business dynasty.
The movie is based on Joy’s true story - the woman became a Home Shopping Network superstar after she invented the Miracle Mop. That invention allowed for the founding of Ingenious Designs, LLC, a multi-million-dollar company that has released several more products primarily sold on television. In the movie, Robert will play Joy’s father, while Bradley’s role is that of an HSN executive.
Edgar Martinez, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Isabella Rossellini, Elisabeth Rohm, and Dascha Polanco co-star in the film.
This will mark the third collaboration in four years between David and actors Jennifer, Robert, and Bradley.
The actors all appeared in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook and in 2013’s American Hustle, with Bradley and Jennifer both receiving Oscar nominations for their roles in both movies.
Jennifer won the Academy Award for Best Actress in Silver Linings Playbook and may just be looking at another nomination for her prominent role in Joy.
