I won’t be a Rocknroll, says Winslet

Kate Winslet has insisted she will not be taking her new husband Ned Rocknroll’s name. The 37-year-old actress married her third husband, Richard Branson’s nephew Ned, in New York last December, but told the Daily Telegraph she is keeping her own name. Kate declared: “I was never going to change my name to Rocknroll.
“I’ve never changed my name to anything so I didn’t see a reason to start now. I quite like Kate Winslet; in fact I think it’s very flashy. I’m proud of my name because I’m one of three girls and we have one boy in our family so essentially the only person who is going to carry the name along is my brother and he doesn’t have any children at the moment.”
The Oscar-winning actress met Ned - who was Ned Smith, but later legally changed his name - while they were both holiday guests on Richard Branson’s private island in 2011.
Kate is currently pregnant with her third child. She is already mother to 12-year-old Mia from her marriage to director Jim Threapleton, and nine-year-old son Joe from her marriage to director Sam Mendes. She said: “I just feel really happy in general - happy with work and happy with life. Things are wonderful. In terms of what will change when we have the baby, I just don’t know. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
