I have been fortunate, says Winslet

Kate Winslet has never felt like she needs to find her place in a ‘man’s world’. The actress is enjoying huge success with a role in the Divergent franchise and a part in the upcoming Steve Jobs biography.
In Alan Rickman’s A Little Chaos she plays a woman trying to fight to be heard in a male-dominated world. Even though many actresses would describe Hollywood in a similar way, it’s not been 39-year-old Kate’s reality. ‘I’ve been really fortunate,’ she admitted to the British edition of OK! magazine.
‘I’ve had a very full and lovely career so far and I can’t honestly say that I’ve ever really found myself in a man’s world, struggling for an identity or trying to prove something. I think as a teenager we all fall into those moments of identity crisis, but that’s quite normal.’ In A Little Chaos, Kate plays landscape gardener Sadine who is commissioned to design a water feature for King Louis XIV’s palace at Versailles. In real life, the star isn’t quite so green-fingered. ‘I love gardens and I learnt as much as I could, but I’m not a gardener,’ she sighed.
‘I wish I was. Every year I say, ‘Right, this year, we’re going to do raised beds, we’re going to grow carrots, we’re going to do tomatoes...’ And somehow life gets in the way and we never quite get round to it. My daughter [Mia] is actually putting me to shame a bit. She’s doing a proper gardening project at school and apparently she’s really rather good at it.’
