54 percent Pakistanis support immigration: Survey

A recent survey has revealed that 54 percent of Pakistanis believe immigration across borders is a good thing while 13 percent consider it bad.
The survey carried out by Gilani Research Foundation Survey, Gallup Pakistan asked a nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces; “Generally speaking, do you think immigration including bringing in foreign workers is a good thing or a bad thing for this country?” Responding to this, 54 percent of Pakistanis believe that immigration is a good thing, 13 percent believe that it is a bad thing whereas 26 percent believe it to be neither good nor bad. However, 7 percent did not give a view.
The poll was part of a global study conducted by WIN-Gallup International, the world’s leading network of opinion researchers and pollsters. The global average of support for immigration is 34 percent (those who consider it good thing) while 38 percent globally consider it a bad thing, 23 percent term it as neither good nor bad while 5 percent did not give an answer.
