7.1 magnitude quake hit Colombia

WASHINGTON - A strong magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck in the Andes mountains of south-west Colombia on Sunday, the US Geological Service that monitors quakes worldwide reported. The quake struck at 1631 GMT some 20 kilometres east of the Colombian town of La Vega and 326 kilometres north-east of Quito, Ecuador, the USGS said. The USGS’s National Earthquake Information Center had initially said the magnitude was 7.4 but later revised it downward.
There was no tsunami alert, nor immediate reports of injuries or damage from the affected area.
