FARAH CITY: Six Afghan Special Force personnel have been killed and three wounded in a US airstrike in Bala Boluk district of western Farah province, an official said today.
Syed Mohammad, the town’s administrative chief, said that the incident occurred in the Kansak locality late on Friday.
He said the US fighter jets conducted air raids on militants in the area when members of Special Force Unit were also attacked. One personnel from quick response force was also injured in the air raid.
But Abdul Basir, the resident of locality, claimed seven Special Forces have been killed in the attack.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Nasir Mahdavi, the governor’s spokesman, rejected the killing of Special Forces in the US airstrike and said clearing operation was underway in the area.
He said 19 militants have been killed and 15 others wounded in the ongoing offensive in the area.
