Afghan president calls for halting violence in Afghanistan, Pakistan

Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday described terrorism as a common enemy of Afghanistan and Pakistan and called for stopping violent incidents in both countries. "Afghanistan and Pakistan are facing terrorist attacks and suffering from the same problem, as we talk here over 60 of our Pakistani brothers were killed in a mosque on Friday while over ten Afghans were also killed on the same day in Afghanistan," Karzai told a two-day seminar held here in Kabul to commemorate the late Pashtun leader Bacha Khan who favored non-violence struggle. One of the warring sides is killing civilians in the name of religion while the other side kills in the name of defending democracy, Karzai noted without giving details.
