UN rues Israeli brutality on minors



UNITED NATIONS - Palestinian children detained by the Israeli military are subjected to ill-treatment that violates int’l laws, the Unicef said, as it issued recommendations to improve the minors’ protection. “Ill-treatment of Palestinian children in the Israeli detention system appears to be widespread, systematic and institutionalised,” according to a briefing by the UN agency. According to figures cited in Children in Israeli detention: observations and recommendations, approx 700 Palestinian children each year between the ages of 12 and 17 are arrested, interrogated and detained by Israeli army, police and security agents.
