LUANDA (Reuters) - Crocodiles killed at least nine children and also attacked several women in Angolas southern Kwanza-Sul province in recent weeks, Radio Nacional de Angola reported on Wednesday. The children, aged between 10 and 16 years from the Amboim municipality, were killed as they approached the river Keve to collect water, the state-run radio cited local official, Domingos Bento, as saying. Bento said the attacks have occurred ever since a water canal in Amboim was shut down, prompting locals to go to the crocodile-infested waters of the river Keve to collect water. Crocodiles are ambush predators and while they spend a lot of time either immobile or gently drifting in river currents, they can show a surprising turn of speed. They can grow up to four metres in length.
