Hundreds protest Indian PM's Kashmir visit

Police fired teargas and baton-charged hundreds of Kashmiri freedom-fighters protesting a visit Friday to the volatile region by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The demonstrators, led by senior separatist Yasin Malik, took to the streets of Indian-held Kashmir's capital Srinagar after prayers. All shops, schools and offices closed in Srinagar in line with a strike call from a separatist committee that has spearheaded a resurgence of mass protests against Indian rule in the Kashmir Valley.
