WASHINGTON - Reaffirming US confidence in the safety and security of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, the State Department said on Thursday it is not aware of any new concern in this regard.
“We have a range of dialogues with Pakistan. We work closely with them on counterterrorism issues and a range of issues. I am not aware of any new concern in this case,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said while responding to a question from an Indian correspondent at the daily Press briefing.
She was asked if Washington was confident of the security of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons in the wake of reports that insurgents in Iraq have gotten hold of low-grade nuclear material from an Iraqi University.
