Senior Indian policeman investigated over 'threat' to murdered journalist

A senior Indian policeman is believed to be under investigation for allegedly threatening a journalist who was shot dead in Mumbai last week. The reports will reinforce fears that a combination of gangland bosses and corrupt officers were behind the killing of Jyotirmoy Dey, a senior crime reporter for the local Midday newspaper. The murder has led news bulletins in India for several days. Until relatively recently, Mumbai was infamous for criminal gangs whose political and law enforcement connections allowed them to operate with relative impunity.
