Sen Kennedy hospitalised

WASHINGTON - Senator Edward Kennedy was hospitalised in Boston on Saturday after becoming ill at his home in Hyannisport, Massachusetts. "It appears that Senator Kennedy experienced a seizure this morning," a statement released by his office in Washington said. "He is undergoing a battery of tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure. Senator Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours." Initial reports had described  Kennedy as having suffered "stroke-like symptoms." Television cameras showed Sen John Kerry entering the hospital early this afternoon, presumably to visit Kennedy or his relatives, bu he did not make a statement. Kennedy, 76, an iconic figure in the Democratic Party, and a liberal voice in the country. He has had good contacts with a number of Pakistani leaders, including late Benazir Bhutto. He had been planning to host a charity fund-raising event this weekend in Hyannisport for Best Buddies International, a non-profit organisation that promotes one-to-one friendships for people with intellectual disabilities.
