Curbs on pro-freedom camp worst terrorism: Gilani

Srinagar:  In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Syed Ali Gilani, and other Hurriyet leaders have termed the crackdown on pro-freedom camp as the worst display of state terrorism, saying that India has converted Kashmir into a jail.

According to press release issued on Tuesday, Gilani said that, “On one hand, we are confined to our homes and on the other, Indian forces are showering bullets on our youth.” He said that many youth were also put behind the bars. “Such oppressive tactics are not going to stop us from fighting for our basic rights,” he stated.

Gilani termed the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) as the real problem and if the Act was not withdrawn, the trigger-happy forces’ personnel would continue to kill innocent Kashmiri youth.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Yasin Malik lashed out at pro-India politicians and called them as puppets of Indian Army. “Pro-India politicians, rulers and Assembly members are strategic assets of Indian Army and agencies and their only job is to provide legal cover to forces and also cover up their crimes and killings,” he said, referring to recent spate of civilian killings in the occupied territory.

“The terror and spree of arrests started after Handwara and Kupwara killings show how Kashmir is actually ruled by police and forces. Hundreds of young boys and kids have been arrested and from many places, reports of police demanding huge money in lieu of releasing these youth have also poured in. This is highly condemnable,” Malik added.
