WASHINGTON: The United States has strongly condemned the attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda in which at least 21 persons were killed and dozens wounded.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the victims and their families during this time of grief. It is particularly appalling that these terrorists continue to attack educational institutions, targeting Pakistan‘s future generations," US Deputy Department Spokesperson Mark Toner said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the United States stood with the government and the people of Pakistan and their efforts to create a secure, stable, and prosperous country.

"We will stand side-by-side with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism," he added.
