No word about Kashmir

NEW YORK - It was surprising as well as shocking for those attending the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly that President Obama did not utter a word on the plight of the Kashmiri people who are subjected to unprecedented and untold torture at the hands of the brute Indian troops killing scores of them and injuring thousands of men, women and children.

The interpretation of his apathy to the Kashmiri people was not available immediately after his final speech to the global community.

However, Pakistani side seems to be relaxed that at least the US President has not toed the Indian line and avoided repeating the Indian rhetoric. Not only this, he did not repeat the often asked "do more' mantra either.

Though Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry expressed concern over the violence in Held Kashmir during his Monday’s meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, urging both Pakistan and India to reduce tensions.

"The secretary reiterated the need for Pakistan to prevent all terrorists from using Pakistani territory as safe havens," the State Department said in a statement about the Kerry meeting with the Pakistani prime minister.
