At least 40 people have been killed on Monday after a truck overturned and fell into a roadside pond in north state of Uttar Pradesh, officials said. According to UP police, the truck was carrying pilgrims traveling to a local temple early Monday in Ballia district in UP. At least 12 people were injured in the accident. Plice said the truck was carrying more than 60 passengers while most of the deaths were due to drowning. Ballia district is about 185 miles southeast of the state capital, Lucknow.
