India claims three soldiers killed near LoC

Indian Army claimed three of its soldiers were killed Tuesday along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Macchal sector in held Kashmir, a day after cross-border shelling killed at least four Pakistani civilians

In a tweet, the army claimed one of the bodies had been 'mutilated'.

There was no immediate comment from the Pakistan Army, which confirmed Monday at least six Indian soldiers had been killed in retaliation.

Tensions have been running high since militants attacked an Indian army base in Kashmir in September. India blamed Pakistan for supporting the militants. Pakistan dismissed the claim and called on India to produce evidence to back it up.

Two of the three wars between India and Pakistan since 1947 have been fought over their competing claims to Kashmir.
