15 killed in Bolivia road accident

LA PAZ (AFP) - Two buses collided in eastern Bolivia Thursday, killing 15 people and injuring 42 more, less than 24 hours after another fatal bus crash left 25 dead, a hospital official said. The passenger buses crashed “head on,” when one swerved into the other’s lane on a road near the town of San Ignacio in the eastern province of Santa Cruz, around 900 kilometers (560 miles) east of the capital, the official said. Dawner Espinoza Parada, head of the municipal hospital in San Ignacio de Chiquitos, said 15 of the injured have “grave” injuries. On Wednesday, a bus missed a curve on a road in southwestern Bolivia, in an accident authorities blamed on a drunk bus driver and poor visibility.
