Sikhs to demonstrate before UN building against Modi

NEW YORK - “Sikhs for Justice”, a New York based human rights group, Tuesday announced that it will stage a rally in front of the United Nations building to highlight the issue of Sikhs’ right to self-determination when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a UN summit meeting on sustainable development on Sept 25. In a press release, the SfJ also said it would “approach” Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon on the issueof the Sikhs rights during the 70th Session of the UN GeneralAssembly.
The Sikhgroup has been campaigning for the right to vote in the year 2020 on the question: “Should the territory of Punjab, currently occupied by India, be an independentcountry?”
