Obama meets Blair for Middle East talks

US presidential hopeful Barack Obama on Saturday met Tony Blair, the international Middle East peace envoy and former British prime minister, opening the final day of his foreign tour. Blair visited the Democratic nominee for a breakfast meeting at Obama's London hotel, where their talks focused on the Middle East peace process, Blair's spokesman said. Obama -- who has been travelling abroad in a high-profile effort to show US voters how he can handle foreign policy issues -- was in Jordan, Israel and the West Bank earlier in the week. "They exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and its wider implications, in light of senator Obama's visits this week and Mr Blair's continuing efforts to promote peace and prosperity," the spokesman said.
