ISIS commander among 6 killed in Nangarhar drone strike

JALALABAD: A commander of the loyalists of Islamic State or Daesh has been killed along with his 5 militants in an airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province.

According to the local government officials, the airstrike was carried out in Haska Mina district, apparently by the US forces as an unmanned aerial vehicle was involved.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani confirmed that a commander of the ISIS terrorist group was killed with five others in a drone strike, online Khaama press reported.

This comes as the local officials in eastern Nangarhar province earlier said drone strikes have played a role in suppressing the activities of the loyalists of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group in Achin district.

The district administrative chief of Achin Ghalib Mujahid said the group has received major blows in this district during the recent months and their activities have become limited by a large extent.

He said the loyalists are the terror group are targeted on daily basis both the Afghan forces and the US forces.

Achin was once a stronghold of the loyalists of ISIS terrorist group from where they started their operations in the country.

The US forces stepped up airstrikes against the terror group after the Obama administration granted more authorities to the US forces in the country.
