A meeting of a group called the Friends of Pakistan will meet in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on November 17 to decide on economic aid for the country, an official travelling with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Thursday. "The meeting will take place on November 17 in Abu Dhabi at the level of senior officials," the delegation member told journalists. The group of nations dubbed the Friends of Pakistan includes Britain, China, France and the United States. Pakistani officials had said on Wednesday that the government would make a statement by the end of the week about its dire financial situation, amid reports that an application to the International Monetary Fund is imminent.
