ATC opens trial of five Americans on terror charges

SARGODHA (AFP) - A court on Wednesday formerly opened the trial of five Americans charged with terrorism and plotting attacks in other countries that could see them jailed for life, a lawyer said. The five men aged 19 to 25 have denied the charges. The trial got underway in an anti-terrorism court convened under tight security at the district jail of Sargodha, where they were arrested in December. The formal trial has begun, defence lawyer Hassan Katchela told AFP. On March 17, the court indicted the five Americans for funnelling money to outlaws and plotting a terror attack in charges could see them jailed for life if found guilty.
