RAWALPINDI - The City Traffic Police have devised a comprehensive strategy to ensure smooth flow of vehicles keeping in view the increasing number of visitors to Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad due to start of the post-Hajj flight operation.
A great rush is witnessed at city roads as family members, relatives and friends from different cities visit the airport in convoys to welcome the pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia after performing the religious obligation.
“A special squad comprising inspectors and a Helpline 1915 at Traffic Headquarters has been established besides deployment of additional traffic wardens, which will ensure smooth flow of traffic,” Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah told this news agency on Wednesday. Under the plan, he said the visitors would not be allowed to park their vehicles around the airport as separate arrangements have been made for them to avoid rush within the airport premises. The CTO will himself supervise the entire traffic plan during a month-long post-Hajj flight operation.
