ISLAMABAD: Mayor Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and chairman Capital development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz has directed the authorities concerned for ensuring quality carpeting of the roads in the federal capital.
Mayor Islamabad and chairman CDA was speaking while inspecting the re-carpeting work being carried out at Pak Secretariat by the Machinery Pool Organization (MPO) Directorate of MCI, here on Saturday. Concerned officers of MPO Directorate other formations were also present on the occasion.
Sheikh Anser Aziz said quality of road carpeting work has been carried out up to standards and no compromise in this regard will be tolerated in the future. He said that roads of different sectors of Islamabad particularly of thickly populated areas are in dilapidated condition and remained ignored in the past. He said that road carpeting done under Prime Minister Package in these thickly populated areas was not up to standards. He directed the formations to pay personal focus on the quality of work.
The chairman CDA said that MCI has chalked out a comprehensive plan under which not only repair and maintenance of all roads and avenues around the whole city would be carried out but will be expands to cater the growing needs of the federal capital. He said that MPO Directorate of the MCI has been mobilized as it has not only heavy machinery but have its own asphalt plant. He said that this formation remained neglected, however, now it has been revitalized which will help reduce unnecessary expenditures.
Mayor Islamabad was briefed that after the allocation of funds, work on the road carpeting has been started. He was informed that road carpeting work in Sector G-5 and Pak Secretariat, where different government and important offices are located, is in full swing. After completing the road carpeting work in these areas machinery will be shifted to other sectors, he was apprised.
Sheikh Anser Aziz expressed satisfaction on the quality and pace of work and directed the concerned formations to carryout repair and maintenance work in the other areas so that road infrastructure in Islamabad could further be improved.
