Protests against raise in POL prices

RAWALPINDI - The politicians, legal fraternity, transporters, business community as well as people belonging to different walks of life on Monday bluntly rejected increase in petroleum products up to 9.37 per cent and demanded PPP led government to withdraw its anti-poor decision immediately. The surge in oil prices would not only double the miseries of people due to continuously rising prices of food items, transportation fairs, gas and electricity but also cramped the industry. Incumbent regime instead of giving relief to public as per its slogan bread, clothing and house was crushing poor by imposing erroneous policies and pocketing much more revenue to meet the target of Rs 1396 billion as agreed with the IMF. While talking to The Nation, Awami Muslim League (AML) President and candidate for by polls of NA-55 Sh Rashid Ahmed termed the hike in oil prices as injustice with people of Pakistan. Rulers are not loyal to the masses. Opposition (PML-N) has kept a criminal mum over the agonies of people. The rulers should cut down their expenditures down rather than surging the oil prices JI candidate for NA-55 Dr Muhammad Kamal stated. Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) former President Sardar Asmat Ullah also condemned the hike in petroleum products by federal government. Terming swell in petroleum products as a big danger to the industries, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Kashif Shabbir those who imported raw material to the industrial sector were under great loss due to hike in rates of gas, electricity and now oil prices. Meanwhile, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran (MAT) staged a protest demonstration against surge in petroleum products by PPP government at Fawara Chowk (Raja Bazaar) here on Monday. The protest was led by MAT President Sh Muhammad Siddique and participated by Ch Iqbal, Sherjil Mir, Khuwaja Ishtiaq, Yasir Mugal, Pervaiz Iqbal, Malik Saeed and scores of others traders. The participants denounced the current regimes decision regarding swell in oil prices up to 9.37 percent. They asked the govt to retract the anti-poor decision or else they would launch a protest movement across the country.
