Islamabad - The private schools owners have urged the government to provide security to educational institutions in Islamabad capital territory and reopen them, as closure of educational institution is not a solution to the security problem.
In a meeting of All Private Schools Association Alliance held on Thursday the representatives of all five private schools associations demanded of the government to provide security to schools and reopen them as shutting down the schools for a long time is not possible. Academic activity has already suffered in the year of 2014-15 due to protests and sit-ins and students have already left with inadequate time to prepare for the annual exams, they said.
Education should not be made expensive in the name of security and the state departments should take the responsibility of security of educational institutions.  “As annual exams approaching nearer the parents are quite concerned about their children and the school managements are under pressure to reopen the schools,” said Malik Abrar, president of All Pakistan Private Schools Association.
He said the regulatory body of private schools, PIERA, collected funds from private schools under various heads that should be used to help them take security measures. The schools have been asked to purchase different types of security equipments that is not possible for those schools which do not collect very high fees, he added.
Earlier, all public and private schools have been closed till January 11 due to precarious security situation after Peshawar attack. University campuses are also shut for academic activity.
