CDA finalises plan to link 7th Avenue with BB Road






ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalised a plan to link 7th avenue with Murree Road by constructing a double carriageway from Kashmir highway crossing to BB Road near Rawal Dam.
According to an official of the civic authority, the execution of the plan would be started soon. The artery would help reduce traffic congestion on main highway linking the federal capital with Murree, Abbottabad and Azad Kashmir.
The traffic congestion would be reduced at Faisal Avenue as well as people travelling from Faizabad to Secretariat and sector G series would adopt this route.
The linkage with Murree road will convert 7th Avenue into a major artery road entering in the federal capital, parallel to Islamabad Highway and Constitution Avenue. Across the Soharwardy Avenue, Kashmir Highway and along present Garden Road, it requires only two kilometers of extension and will link the city with Murree road, he said.
The civic authority was also planning to construct a food court, flower market, wash rooms in G-10 Markaz, he said. The CDA has also decided to shift clinics, food courts working in various residential areas to Blue area.
To create more and more space in of highrise buildings upto 25 stories would be allowed besides expanding the Blue Area from Khyber Plaza to F-9 Park, he said.
During the current fiscal year the civic authority would also construct two pedestrian underpasses at Blue Area. A sum of Rs 300 million has been allocated in the current budget for the projects, he said. Likewise, he added, Rs 175 million has been earmarked to construct overhead, pedestrian bridges in other areas of the capital.
