ISLAMABAD - Pakistan and the United Kingdom on Wednesday reviewed progress of Pak-UK Defense Forum in which matters relating to defence cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
These issues came under discussion during meeting between British High Commissioner Philip Barton with Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif here in his office.
During the meeting, the British High Commissioner lauded achievements of Pakistan Army in the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said law and order situation in the country has improved as a result of the operation against militant elements.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Defence said that Barton discussed both issues of water and power and defence during the meeting.
He expressed concern over the loss of lives due to heat wave in Karachi. Steps taken to improve the energy situation of the country were shared.
The minister appraised the guest on the long and short term steps taken to improve energy situation.
While discussing matters of defence, Barton appreciated improved security situation and the growing defence relations with Pakistan.
He praised Pakistan Army for conducting a successful operation Zarb-e-Azab which had significantly contributed towards improving the security situation of the country.
The meeting also discussed development on the existing defence forums between Pakistan and Britain.
