ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League Secretary General Senator Mushahid Hussain on Thursday appreciated the role of labourers in national development, saying progress could not be made without giving rights to the labour community in the society.Addressing a function here, he said it was necessary to slash in corporate tax and GST to facilitate the labourers and his party was against anti-labour policies.Senator Mushahid said media, labourers and the military should jointly work for the development of the country. The challenges could be tackled more effectively through joint efforts. Expressing solidarity with the families of martyrs, he said the entire nation stood behind the defence institutions and held them in high esteem. He also condemned attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir. He said there was no threat to the democracy in the country and the government was needed to make solid measures for resolving issues of inflation, poverty and loadshedding.Central senior vice president Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed Ranjha, Labour Wing President Muhammad Imtiaz Raja, Women Wing President Farrukh Khan, Youth Wing President Bilal Mustafa Sherazi, Deputy Speaker Information Mustafa Malik, central vice president Ajmal Khan Wazir and Federal Capital President Rizwan Sadiq Khan appreciated the labourers for their valuable services in nation building.They called upon the government to take solid steps for welfare of the labour community.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
