Prior to this posting, newly appointed Javed Iqbal Awan was officer on special duty (OSD) since May 9, 2012. It is worth mention here that a committee headed by Secretary Cabinet Nargis Sethi has recently recommended replacement of Chairman CDA and entire CDA Board. The enquiry was ordered by the Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in the backdrop of a scam involving disposal of costly 12 commercial plots at Blue Area (Extension) through pre-qualification rather open auction.
However, CDA sources insisted that huge changes are evident to increasing interference of premier Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s brothers in CDA affairs.
“After having personally gone through the profile and record of various senior officers, Prime Minister has decided to appoint Javed Iqbal Awan, a BS-22 officer as Chairman CDA. It has also been decided that bring new members of finance, administration, estate management, environment and engineering in the CDA,” said a statement issued from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
It further reads that Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has been carrying out intense deliberations to chalk out a roadmap for implementing his vision of making Islamabad a model Capital city to provide all civic amenities and leave a lasting imprint on a visitor.
In this connection he has been holding informal discussions with people belonging to different walks of life including architects, environmentalists, city planners, politicians residents of Islamabad and retired bureaucrats, statement said adding as a first step, the Prime Minister has decided to appoint a new Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
