'Late Faraz always stood against tyranny'

ISLAMABAD -Ahmed Faraz was not only the representative poet of the aspirations, struggle and perseverance of Pakistani people but he was also determined to awake all the depressed people of the world to rise and struggle for their freedom. I A Rehman stated this while presiding over the national literary condolence reference on trend-setting poet Ahmed Faraz arranged by Pakistan Academy of Letters. Brother of Ahmed Faraz Barrister Masood Kausar and sons of Ahmed Faraz Sarmad Faraz, Shibli Faraz and Saadi Faraz were the chief guests. Iftikhar Arif, Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters, Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik, Masood Mufti, Munno Bhai, Agha Nasir, Shabnam Shakeel, Sarwat Mohyuddin and Shameem Ikram-ul-Haq expressed their views on the life and works of Ahmed Faraz. Kishwar Naheed read the poem for Ahmed Faraz. Prof.Sajjad Sheikh rendered English translation of Ahmed Faraz's poetry. Harris Khaleeq conducted the proceedings. Prof.Fateh Mohmmad Malik said that Faraz always wrote truth and raised his voice against tyranny. He was a true and dauntless poet and intellectual. Iftikhar Arif said that death of one of the most popular poet of the present time Ahmed Faraz is great loss for the whole Urdu World. Iftikhar Arif declared that Ahmed Faraz numbar of quarterly Urdu literary journal "Adbiyat" will be published under the editorship of Kishwar Naheed.   Ahmed Faraz's brother Barrister Masood Kausar thanked the participants.   Ahmed Faraz's sons Sarmad Faraz, Shibli Faraz and Saadi Faraz said that Faraz was not only a great poet but a great father too. They presented Faraz's Naat. He further said that Ahmed Faraz was considered as a resistance poet and was a representative of Urdu literature in the World. Masood Mufti said that Pakistan was deprived of a fine and enchanting poet and Pakistani people were also deprived of a powerful resistance voice. In the present social political system and turbulent condition of Pakistan we always need such encouraging and protesting voices. Munno Bhai said that Faraz was the most loved poet of Pakistan and will always be remembered due to his beautiful poetry. We should respect people like Faraz and should keep his poetry alive in our hearts. Agha Nasir said that his friendship with Ahmed Faraz spanned over last 50 years. He remained very close to him and was impressed by his poetry and personality. He was very lucky with regard to popularity and high standard of poetry. Shabnam Shakeel said that Ahmed Faraz was like those poets whose popularity remained ever increasing. He was at the apex of his popularity. God bestowed him prolifically and he became a living legend. He never compromised on the expression of truth and what he considered as right. Sarwat Mohyuddin while reminiscing her memories with Faraz said that she got opportunity to participate in many Mushaira with Ahmed Faraz. He was a dedicated personality and sincere with his friends. He was a patriotic poet who always rasied his voice against injustice. Shamim Ikram-ul-Haq said that Faraz was a lucky person he got unparalleled popularity in the beginning of his poetic career. He was a brave and true person. Paksitan Acdemy of Letters had placed the visitor's book in a Hall in which the audience penned down their sentiments about Ahmed Faraz.
